Abstract: Synthetic as well as natural heterocyclic compunds are biologically active and are used as drugs in clinics. They are widely used in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, sensitizers, antioxidants, copolymers, as corrosion inhibitors, dyes etc… Natural products occur in minimum quantities and are difficult to extract and utilize them. Synthetic Organic Chemistry is an excellent solution, which provides an alternative path to synthesize drugs which are mimics of natural medicines. In that regard this paper gives a review on the biological importance of heterocyclic compounds.
